As one of our massage techniques we have the ability to offer you is Massage Flame hot oil massages. These oils are melted down from a candle to the perfectly warm temperature and then used for a luxurious and moisturizing massage.

Each experience oil is infused with 100% natural and organic essential oils and luxurious natural emollients to leave your skin silky smooth. The use of pure essential oils means we can customize your treatment to best suit your personal needs or desires.

From the 7 oils that we carry you can choose from the Citrus refreshing and inspiring experience oil, The Desire chocolate anti-oxidant and decadent experience oil or one of the many oils we offer and together we can promote well being and relaxation.

When you walk into the treatment room for your Massage Flame experience, you will enjoy the ambiance of the flame dancing atop the candle, accompanied by the aroma of your choice gently filling the room. The warmth of the hot oil will bring you to a deep relaxation while the aromas of the oils with stimulate your senses.

Jennifer or Casey will use this warm oil to give you an urban massage experience like no other. The natural oils and emollients will not leave your skin with a waxy feeling but rather a creamy smooth texture that will leave you moisturized throughout the day. At the end of your treatment, take home your Massage Flame candle to continue enjoying your experience oil at home.

New Sign At The Urban SpaThe building in which The Urban Spa in Peterborough is located is a century building with over 100 years on it but it’s never looked better. Over the last three months, The Urban Spa has been continually updating, beautifying, renovating, modernizing all aspects of the building and this new sign marks our new beginning for the next century!

Why Hot Stone & Cold Stone Services At The Urban Spa Are SO AWESOME!

So you know we do them but why do so many of our clients keep coming back for our Urban Spa Pedicures? It’s all in the stones!

Since opening in March, our signature services (The Urban Spa Pedicure and Manicure) have been our most popular services and the Hot Stone massage portion of the treatment is the reason why our clients love them the most! Our Hot Stone hand and foot treatments are performed using basalt stones and Spa Ritual Moisturizing Lotion. We use the stones in place of our classic foot and hand massage techniques for a deep relaxing treatment. Having the Hot Stone treatment is incredibly soothing for tired aching feet or hands that have been typing at a computer all day. Our clients leave feeling light and refreshed. The best part of our Urban Spa Pedicure is that we perform it on our massage table! What’s better then sitting on a massage table that has been precisely angled to make you as comfortable as possible with the added bonus of a heating pad and a glass of fresh fruit water? Very few things!

Not only do we offer the Hot Stones for hands and feet but we also perform full body Hot Stone Massages! A treatment that was introduced to North America in the early 1990’s, hot stone massages are believed to not only relax the body but the spirit as well.  With the combination of the hot basalt stones and massage oil, the heat and energy is transferred from the stones and penetrated deep into the muscles to achieve a therapeutic and soothing experience.  A Hot Stone treatment can reduce stress, promote calmness and increase relaxation, alleviate pain, improve circulation and help rid the body of toxins. Many clients leave feeling a sense of enlightenment, inner peace or renewed spirituality after a treatment. We take great care in the placement and removal of all the stones. They will never be too hot when placed and will be removed with care particularly along the points of the Chakra.

Did you know we also offer Cold Stone Treatments as well? Our Boreal Relaxation Treatment is performed with the combination of hot towels and cold marble stones. The application of hot towels after the Cold Stones promotes blood circulation. The cold stones help to calm inflammation, help relieve puffiness and dark circles around the eyes, and improve skin tone. It’s also incredible for clients who suffer from sinusitis by reducing congestion and nasal swelling. For those suffering from Anxiety and depression, a cold stone treatment forces the mind to focus on the body and what it is experiencing rather than the mental and stress issues happening in your life. It truly is a refreshing treatment and on these warm summer days, we all want a little refreshment!
