After much anticipation, we are pleased to introduce to you the second special person that we thought would the best Guest Reservation Specialist for you all… Please welcome Sarah Tye.
Sarah is delighted to be joining the growing team at The Urban Spa as a Guest Reservation Specialist. A Peterborough girl born and raised, Sarah has always kept busy volunteering in community theatre with groups like Art for Awareness, the Peterborough Theatre Guild, St. James Players and more. She’s been teaching high school for several years now, and is currently in her second year teaching Drama and Musical Theatre at Thomas A. Stewart. Sarah cannot wait to start planning her next trip, having travelling most recently to New York City, Bermuda, California, Walt Disney World and the UK. Although she’s new to the spa industry, Sarah is excited to start learning with the incredible team at The Urban spa, and get to know all of the amazing clients so that she can help make their experience the best it can be.
- Name: Sarah Tye
- Nicknames: Tye-Tye, Tyger, Tye-Fighter (a nickname given by my musical theatre students last year!)
- Favourite Colour: Sometimes red, sometimes green, sometimes black. Depends on my mood.
- Hobbies: Theatre! I love directing, lighting design, producing, stage managing, acting… you name it! I also love hanging out with my two cats and my dog.
- Fun Fact about myself: I studied in Liverpool, England – home of The Beatles!
- Favourite Movie: My guilty pleasures are Miss Congeniality and Austenland. I absolutely love watching the special features for any movie (sometimes I watch a movie just so that I can see the special features!) I loved the Lord of the Rings trilogy (and The Hobbit), The Imitation Game, and anything Disney.
- If You could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?: Everywhere! I haven’t seen nearly enough of Canada yet, so I’d love to do a cross country road trip. I love the Caribbean and Europe, so it would be great to explore more of those regions. India, Egypt, New Zealand and Peru top the list as well.
- Favourite Urban Spa service to receive: The Urban Relief Facial
- Favourite Book: The Shadow of the Wind and the Harry Potter Series. I really enjoy non-fiction as well.
- TV Show you can’t live without: I love Firefly, Doctor Who, Community… lately I’ve been into The Mindy Project and Hemlock Grove.
- If you were stuck on an island what would be the one thing you’d want with you?: This is kind of boring, but something to make fresh water.
- Secret Indulgence: Wii Dance parties. (well, that’s not a huge secret…)
- Did you go to school for anything else besides this career – even if you decided to switch to another career option: I studied English and Cultural Studies (with a specialization in Image, Performance and Sound) at Trent, with a year abroad in England, where I focused on Theatre Studies. After that I got my Education Degree at Queens in Drama and English.
- Give 3 items on your bucket list: Go Skydiving. Go on safari & sleep in the savannah. Grow a decent vegetable and herb garden.
