The Urban Paw Presents…

It’s the time of year for gift giving and this year The Urban Spa has decided to do something a little different.

As many of you know, last year we launched our very own charity called The Urban Paw where we donate to our local Humane Society. This includes our gently used blankets and towels as well as donations we collect from YOU, our lovely guests, during our events or through our Urban Club.

This holiday season we decided to give back to our community by donating even more to the animals in need at the Peterborough Humane Society. Below you will find all the ways in which you can help us give these animals the best Christmas ever.

With every product and/or service purchase for the month of December, you will have the opportunity to round up to the nearest dollar. The additional amount will be MATCHED by us, dollar for dollar, and donated to Peterborough Humane Society.
We’re also a donation drop spot for new or gently used pet supplies. For every donation you drop off at the spa you will be rewarded with Urban Club points. But that’s not all, for the month of December, we will DOUBLE those reward points.
Speaking of Urban Club points, you do have the option to turn these into a dollar amount which would then be donated to the Humane Society. Again, this month we will match your donation amount dollar for dollar.

Stay Cozy This Winter!

If you’re looking for a way to stay cozy this winter, our winter seasonal blend, Northern Frost, might be just what you are looking for!

Northern Frost is a fresh and clearing blend of eucalyptus, rosemary, peppermint, and mandarin. The eucalyptus and peppermint give a freshness reminiscent of a breath of cool winter air and freshly fallen snow. Rosemary imparts a subtle woodsy scent, while mandarin provides a subtle sweetness in this blend, which works to gently support you during the cold season, and perk you up when you’re feeling sluggish. The changing seasons bring a shift, not only in the weather, but also in our moods, our instincts and our activities. As the world around us explodes with the warm, vibrant colours of changing leaves and waning daylight, we instinctively adapt our behaviours – spending the days soaking up the last of the warm sun, enjoying the fresh air and the insulating layer of leaves that crunch under our feet. In the evenings, we migrate in to enjoy the coziness of a warm home, settling into the routine of quiet, dark nights which will soon become our winter hibernation.

Our new seasonal blend – Autumn Spice – is inspired by these changes. The classic combination of soothing sweet orange with spicy notes of frankincense, cardamom and nutmeg echoes the colours and scents of this season, from harvest baking to the obligatory pumpkin spice latte. It fulfills our desire to seek out warmth and comfort by imparting a feeling of coziness and calm.

VIDEO Details About Our Ghostly Celebration Friday The 13th

Our Ghostly Celebration is coming very soon! Friday October the 13th from 5pm to 8pm, we will transform the spa into a ghostly scene. This video will explain more for those who are registered.

NOTE: You must be registered to attend and as of this moment, the registration list is FULL (sorry!). However you can get on the wait list – go here.

Here are some FAQs regarding the upcoming celebration.

Are costumes mandatory? No they are not but they are fun. The entire spa and staff will be decorated so feel free to wear a halloween costume.
Will there be food and drinks? Yes there will. What kind? It’s a surprise 🙂
Will there be entertainment? Yes there will. What kind? It’s a surprise but wear clothing that allows movement.
Is this happening rain or shine? Yes
Is there a minimum age? Yes, 14 or older.
Does everyone get a swag bag? No not everyone. Only the first 150 that are registered. You must be registered on the list and be one of the first 150 people attend. No exceptions, sorry 🙁 The swag bags are very popular.
Will there be any specials or discounts? Absolutely. Because this is a THANK YOU party we’re putting just about everything on sale.

ALL NEW Indie Head Massage – Coming Soon!

The Urban Spa is excited to announce that we have a new service that will be added to our menu very soon: The Indie Head Massage.

First of all, can we all just take a moment to appreciate how just saying the words “Indie Head Massage” already has us feeling relaxed? But this is so much more than simply an indulgent treat.

The Indie Head Massage is a form of massage therapy based on the ancient healing system of Ayurveda which focuses on the muscles and connective tissues of the face, neck, scalp, upper back and shoulder area. This 45 minute service can be used to treat most issues of the head, neck and shoulders, including headaches, TMJ pain, tension and trigger points.

In addition to the above benefits, the oil blend used on the hair and scalp is very nourishing and moisturizing and actually acts as a secondary treatment to condition your hair.

We know you’re going to love this just as much as we do, so stay tuned for reservation details.

NOTE: As your hair will be saturated with oil, this service does book with a wash and blow out with one of our Hair Designers.
