The Urban Spa is planting its feet firmly in the sand and stating it’s purpose for all to see. What we do is so unique, we had to invent a word: PERCEPTIONAL
Perceptional is defined as a Personal and Exceptional Spa Experience. That’s what The Urban Spa stands for.
There are 3 components to our purpose.
- Personal: The Urban Spa doesn’t just provide services, we personalize all of our services.
- Exceptional: The Urban Spa strives to make every visit exceptional. That doesn’t mean good, doesn’t mean great, it means EXCEPTIONAL. We want to make an impact on your life!
- Experience: The Urban Spa no longer offers services, we offer experiences. Every encounter with our clients leads to an experience. We’ve invested heavily to make sure The Urban Spa provides an experience like no other. From the free Nespresso lattes to the curated music experience to the world menu only offered at The Urban Spa, we strive to be PERCEPTIONAL.
To experience our “Perceptionalness” (another word we invented) call us at 705-741-1212 or book online.
Located on the main floor of a beautiful historic building in the most historic parts of Peterborough (East City) The Urban Spa has served over 13,000 guests who have trusted us with their health and wellness since and we strive daily to being different and making a difference.

Jennifer Cowey, Level 3 Lead Esthetician
“I have lived in the Peterborough area my entire life and am proud to live and work in beautiful East City. I have been joyfully serving my esthetic clients for over 10 years and I believe I offer a wealth of knowledge as well as personal and professional experience to make each treatment special and unique to the individual.
I believe our education doesn’t end with graduation, so after receiving my esthetics certificate from Fleming College I have continued learning a variety of new skills including medical esthetics, various skin care line and spray tans. My career has taken me from spa parties for special occasions, to community events like Be a Goddess and even doing runway makeup for some of the major wedding shows in Peterborough.
When asked what my favourite service is, I always say it changes with the seasons or event, but really I just love doing them all and am really excited to be continuing my career with The Urban Spa”
Mitch Johnson, Level 1 Esthetician
“I was born and raised in Peterborough and went to Crestwood Secondary School. I have been an esthetician for almost a year now and my favourite services to provide are facials and body treatments. I’m a burger connoisseur (seriously!) who loves wearing and doing makeup and being different!”
Sarah Reid, Level 2 Esthetician
“I am a vegan with a true love for animals. I have quite a few fur babies and I reside in Peterborough. After my wonderful experience at Fleming College in the esthetician program, I am so excited to begin my career with the awesome team at the Urban Spa.
I enrolled in the esthetician program because I had a strong passion for skin care, body treatments, and all around self-care and I am excited to share my skills and expertise with the guests of the Urban Spa.”
Shaelyn O’Marra, Level 1 Esthetician
“I was born in Peterborough and have spent most of my life here. I went to PCVS for the Visual Arts program and graduated from Fleming from the Esthetics Program in 2015.
I’ve always been a bit of an art dork, dabbling in painting, drawing, ceramics, makeup, knitting, sewing, photography, art history, printmaking and pretty much any other art medium you can think of! Music is my life! My favourite bands/artists are David Bowie, Lorde, Alvvays, Grizzly Bear, Kendrick Lamar, and Leon Bridges.
When I’m not working I’m traveling. The Netherlands, Barcelona, and Greece have been my favourite places I’ve visited so far, and the list of places I want to visit is always growing. I love everything about the esthetics and working in the spa industry, but I love doing foot care the most. I’m so excited to be working at The Urban Spa; the team atmosphere is incredible!”
Kyrsten Westover, Level 1 Esthetician
“I’m Kyrsten and my esthetics journey began in 2015 when I accepted my offer at Loyalist College in Belleville, Ontario for the Esthetics and Spa Management program. It was a 2 year program and I hands down would do it again and again. Esthetics wasn’t always my go to career choice but deciding to do this now was one of my best decisions.
I am a pretty big WWII history nerd and really enjoy art which is one of the reasons tattoos are a pretty big part of my life. I also love animals, like all of them.”

Cole Leptick, Level 3 Lead Registered Massage Therapist
“Peterborough has been my home for the past 10 years and I could not imagine living anywhere else. I took a chance and left my hometown in Northern Manitoba in order to find myself, I ended up finding more than I could have imagined.
My greatest accomplishments have been completing the Massage Therapy Program and becoming a Registered Massage Therapist. It has been an honour to serve Peterborough and the Kawarthas for 4 out of my 5 years of practice. I love working with my clients in helping them achieve their health goals. I am a firm believer in the power of touch. Living in this fast-paced world we often forget about self-care when it is, in fact, one of the most important keys to a healthy lifestyle.
I’ve been very fortunate to have been voted by Peterborough This Week as Peterborough’s best Massage Therapist four years running. I’m blessed to have great clients! I am beyond excited to start this new chapter in my life in joining the Urban Spa team and cannot wait for what the future holds!”
Jessica Pilon, Level 3 Registered Massage Therapist
“I graduated in 2007 from Fleming College and started right into the spa industry in Cobourg. It wasn’t long at all before I fell in love with the setting. I truly enjoy making people relaxed and ease away their stress, especially in today’s high-pressure world.
I spent many years in my private practice at a spa in Bridgenorth and then transitioned to the clinical setting at a chiropractic office. My love for the spa industry prevailed and I was drawn back to the essence of the spa. I fell into fitness a few years ago and now love exercising and promoting healthy living. I enjoy guiding and helping people to a healthier way of living, mind, body, and spirit.”
Stuart Bell, Level 1 Registered Massage Therapist
” I was born and raised in Belleville. I grew up with two older sisters who were always asking me to rub their back or give them a massage. My father also worked in a factory and would come home extremely tired and with a sore back which I would always try and help with. Since I was helping my family with it, I decided that I would go learn how to do it properly and help out more than just my family.
I moved to Peterborough to go to Fleming College and I graduated from the 3-year program. I am now starting my career with an amazing team at The Urban Spa and I can’t wait to help the Peterborough public!”
Tyler Leavitt, Level 1 Registered Massage Therapist
“My name is Tyler Leavitt and I was born and raised in both Prince Edward County and the small town of Brighton.
Growing up I was always very active playing pretty well everything I could. With this, I would always be sore and started practicing self-massage and most of the time it would work. From there I moved to Peterborough to try something new. I then graduated from Fleming with a Fitness and Health promotion diploma but didn’t feel like that was enough so I went back to Fleming and took Massage Therapy. Since moving to Peterborough I can’t see myself anywhere else.”
Marsha Roscoe, Level 1 Registered Massage Therapist
“After working in the healthcare field for years, I took some time off to do a yoga teacher training in Nicaragua. It was at that time that I realized I wanted to focus on people’s wellness rather than illness. I came home, quit my job, and decided to become a traveling yogini.
After a year I realized I was called to do more, and decided to take the Massage Therapy Program. During this time, I also completed my level 1 in Reiki and realized the huge benefits of therapeutic touch. I take a holistic approach to working with others and believe that massage therapy and Reiki can help balance our physical, mental, and spiritual health.”

Sara McFeeters, Level 2 Hair Stylist
“I’ve lived in Peterborough for 16 years but I grew up on a dairy farm in the Hamlet of Argyle.
After selling the farm, I went on to graduate with a Law Clerk diploma, a diploma from Bonnie Gordon College of Confectionery Arts and a Cosmetology/Hairstylist Diploma. Apparently, my interests went from one end of the spectrum to the other. I am now settled in the hairstylist lane. I love the “before and after” excitement. When I’m not doing hair, I’m either baking or visiting with family and friends.”

Serena Di Marco Bowyer, Level 1 Hair Stylist
“I was born in Montreal but was raised in Barrie Ontario. Barrie was where I graduated Modern College of Hairstyling & Esthetics in 2016. I am new to (and loving!) the Peterborough area (where my husband grew up!). I love to write almost as much as I love hair transformations and making my guests feel beautiful.”
Taylor Drake, Lead Guest Reservation Specialist, Level 1 Makeup Artist, and Lash Technician
“I have lived in Peterborough since I learned to walk, and while a part of me will always love being in big cities, I couldn’t imagine calling anywhere else my home.
Animals, especially foxes, hold a special place in my heart, and whenever someone asks me the best part of no longer being shy, my answer is almost always “I’m not afraid to ask strangers if I can pet their dog”. I have always loved drawing and painting, and makeup quickly became an extension of that for me: a creative outlet that I could wear anywhere I wanted to go. I believe it is art, and can only enhance the beauty that everyone already has. I am extremely excited to be given the opportunity to grow as an artist with the Urban Spa, and to be welcomed into such a wonderful family, with equally incredible guests.”

Michaela Hetherington, Guest Reservation Specialist
“I’m very excited to be joining the team at The Urban Spa! I was born and raised in Peterborough and have always been very enthusiastic about the city! I have been actively involved in the local music scene within the community for over 8 years now. I graduated from Thomas A Stewart I’m currently studying Music and Concurrent Education at Queen’s University. I’m a total social butterfly and can not wait to get to know the guests of The Urban Spa! With the help of the Spa’s amazing cast members, I hope to learn as much as possible in order to m

Karley Morley, Guest Reservation Specialist
“My name is Karley, I graduated from St. Lawrence college for Veterinary Assistant . I love animals and I love people! I have a dog and two cats, they are my babies. You may often see me outside riding my bike; I love the outdoors! I am pretty shy at first but I love chatting and making friends! My heart belongs to chocolate, cheese, wine, and my partner Levi! :)”
Phuong (May) Ngo, Spa Assistant
“I am Thi Phuong Ngo. I was born and raised in a beautiful small area in Vietnam. I then moved to Ho Chi Minh City for university in 2005 and I am now currently studying Massage Therapy at Fleming College.
I thought about massage therapy when my father had a problem with his joints. I wanted to know more about the problems that older people usually have and I decided to come back to school to work in the health field. Fortunately in the massage therapy program, I have a very good environment to learn with good friends and good teachers. That makes me love massage therapy even more! I know I have chosen the right program, especially after receiving very good feedback from my clients and teachers. That motivates me a lot in this career.
I love travelling. I have been to more than 12 countries and I will go to more in the future. In addition, baking is one of my favourite things when I have free time. I love making something for my friends and relatives birthdays. That brings us closer.
My dream is that I could have enough ability to do as much charity as possible, because there are so many places in the world, in Canada and in my country that need the support.”
